E46 M3, E36 M3, E30 M3 or E39 M5?

Ok, so I’m ready to buy a car but I’m stuck on which car to buy.

I have been on Bimmerforums and a few other forums as well as checking out the car sales websites for about the last 2 years so I’ve got a fair bit of knowledge of these cars.

I’m attracted to the E46 strongly but the insurance/maintains and general running cost seem to be fairly high. So I have been thinking about the E36 but I’m not so sure about it, it seem to be the worse of the E46 and E30 but if you disagree please comment. The E30 I’m also very fond of, it seem to be fairly cheap but maintenance is rather expensive. I very much like all of these cars because;
1. They’re rwd.
2. Nice power to weight ratio.
3. Nice engine capacity (2.3-3.2L)
4.All have manual option.
5.Very nice build quality.

That’s is why I am least sure about the E39, it of course has the 5.0L V8. Is this engine expensive to run? If you have any input at all please comment! I really need to decided, so just tell me anything you know which may shift my desicion.
